What is a degree

                                                                    What is a degree?

A degree is a unit used to measure temperatures. You can express it in °C,K or °F

The fahrenheit scale was created by Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit in the 18th century. During his studies in Poland, he decided to create a temperature scale based on the blood temperature in the human body: he chose 98.6°F he then added more temperatures such as; the melting point of ice(32°F)and the boiling point of the water(212°F)

After The French Revolution at the end of the 18th century,a lot of countries changed their temperature scale from Fahrenheit to Celsius since it was a lot more easier. Indeed, in celsius the freezing point of water is 0°C and the boiling point of water is 100°C

Finally, Lord Kelvin invented the Kelvin scale which is now the most used temperature scale in the world

Those scales give us formules:

                C=(F-32)*5/9                        ;                F=(C*5/9)+32

0°C=32°F                                        0°F=-18°C                                0 K=-273°C

100°C=212°F                                    98.6°F=37°C

-40°C=40°F

What is a degree

The degree is a unit to measure the temperature

There is 3 types of degree used in the world

-The Celcius   (the most used in the world)

-The Farenheit   (used in USA)

-The Kelvin  (international system)

Gabriel Farenheit created the scale of farenheit during the 18th century

Boiling temp of water : 100°C / 373°K/212°F

Freezing temp of water : 0°C/273°K/32°F

 What is a degree?

A degre can be in three different units : the Fahrenheit in F, the Kelvin in K and the Celsius in C. The boiling point of water is at 100°C so in Fahrenheit it's at 212°C.  Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit base on the tempeture of the blood. That units are create in the 18e century.

We have three different formula:

  •  Form the Celsius to the Fahrenheit :C=(F-32)*5/9
  •  Form the Fahrenheit to the Celsius: F=(C*9/5)+32
  • Form the Celsius to the Kelvin: K=C+273
  • Form the Kelvin to the Celsius: C=K-273
