The maga flash lightning

A new world lightning record was set in the United States with a bolt nicknamed the "megaflash," stretching an incredible 768 kilometers. This exceptional phenomenon crossed the states of Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi in 2022, but its measurement was officially confirmed in 2024 by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
This colossal flash surpassed the previous record of 709 km, set in Brazil in 2018. Contrary to popular belief, this type of lightning is not vertical but horizontal, spreading between clouds.
The event caused no damage or injuries, but it is impressive due to its sheer scale.
This megaflash highlights the extreme power of thunderstorms and the importance of weather monitoring.
Scientists use specialized satellites to detect these rare events. This record underscores the technological progress made in understanding atmospheric phenomena.
